Recently, a homeowner has reported their vehicle was broken into in the Highlands.
While disheartening to hear, this serves as a good reminder to all homeowners that as the weather warms up, more people are out, so please be vigilant. By far and large, the Highlands is a very safe neighborhood, and we want to keep it that way! Here are a few reminders…
- If you park your vehicle on your driveway or in the street, ALWAYS keep your doors locked and valuables out of sight… even during the day!
- At night, it is a good idea to keep exterior lights on which might stop a potential break in.
- Remember if you see something, say something. Always phone 911 if you witness a crime in progress. If after the fact, phone the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department at (812)-349-2780 to report the issue and request additional patrols in our subdivision. Without data indicating issues here, the patrols can be limited and infrequent at best.
